Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
The threat content carries the vulnerability and spyware signatures and the App-ID definitions every rule matches on. Installed late or not at all, protection lags what Palo Alto Networks has published, and new applications are classified as something older.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- Set the applications and threats schedule to download and install, daily or more often.
- Set a threshold if new App-IDs need review before they change what rules match.
Command line
PAN-OS CLI
set deviceconfig system update-schedule threats recurring daily at <time> action download-and-installAn example. Values in angle brackets are yours to supply; a finding on your own export fills in the names it read. Nothing here commits. Review the candidate configuration, then commit it yourself.
Read it back
show deviceconfig system update-schedule threatsValues to fill in1
- <time>
- The time of day the update runs, as HH:MM
How to confirm the fix
- Reopen the schedule under Device, Dynamic Updates, and confirm the action and the cadence.
- Confirm the next scheduled installation appears in the system log.
Limits
- On a Panorama each template stack is judged on its own, through its members in order; a stack that reaches no schedule, or holds a member this file lacks, is recorded rather than passed. A stack's own settings are not read for update schedules.

Covers the whole recommendation
Where a control aligns with a recommendation of the CIS Palo Alto Firewall 11 Benchmark v1.2.0, that recommendation is cited as a reference. Only that version was checked. A reference is not a certification.
