Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
ISE uses the first policy set and the first rule that match. A later one that can never match does nothing: the access it was written to give or deny is decided by the earlier one, and whoever reads the policy believes otherwise.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- In ISE: Policy > Policy Sets: open the set or rule and the one named before it. Move the intended one above, narrow the earlier one, or delete the one that never matches.
Command line
This analyzer version writes no command text for this control. The steps above are the remediation it offers.
How to confirm the fix
- In ISE: Policy > Policy Sets: the rule's hit counter rises once requests it was written for arrive.
Limits
- No limitation is recorded for this control beyond the one that applies to all of them: it reads a configuration export.
Compliance references
No benchmark recommendation is mapped to this control in this version.
