Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
A guest session that is not redirected reaches whatever the switch or controller routes to, internal networks included.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- In ISE: Policy > Policy Elements > Results > Authorization > Authorization Profiles > edit the guest profile and add a downloadable ACL that permits DNS, DHCP and the portal and denies internal ranges, or a guest VLAN.
- Give the post-login guest result its own profile with an internet-only ACL or VLAN.
Command line
This analyzer version writes no command text for this control. The steps above are the remediation it offers.
How to confirm the fix
- In ISE: Policy > Policy Sets > open the policy set and confirm the rule's result and condition, then review the Live Logs for sessions that match it.
Limits
- No limitation is recorded for this control beyond the one that applies to all of them: it reads a configuration export.
Compliance references
No benchmark recommendation is mapped to this control in this version.
