Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
PAN-OS class names always exist, so the rule works and sorts traffic into the class. No profile sets a guarantee or a ceiling for it, so that traffic is shaped exactly like everything else. The policy reads as prioritizing the traffic and changes nothing about it.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- Give the class a guaranteed or maximum bandwidth in the profile bound to the egress interface.
- Or change the rule to assign a class the profile already sets bandwidth for.
- Set it in every profile if the interface a flow leaves by can vary.
Command line
PAN-OS CLI
set network qos-profile <qos-profile> class-bandwidth-type mbps class <qos-class> class-bandwidth egress-guaranteed <guaranteed-mbps>An example. Values in angle brackets are yours to supply; a finding on your own export fills in the names it read. Nothing here commits. Review the candidate configuration, then commit it yourself.
Read it back
show network qos-profile <qos-profile>Values to fill in3
- <qos-profile>
- The QoS profile
- <qos-class>
- The QoS class
- <guaranteed-mbps>
- The guaranteed bandwidth in megabits per second
Before you type it1
- QoS needs a profile with bandwidth in it and an interface that uses the profile. One without the other shapes nothing.
How to confirm the fix
- Confirm one QoS profile or more sets bandwidth for the class the rule assigns.
- Confirm the profile that sets it is bound to the interface the traffic egresses.
Limits
- Which interface a flow leaves by is a routing decision and is not in a configuration export, so this reports only the case where no profile sets bandwidth for the class at all.
Compliance references
No benchmark recommendation is mapped to this control in this version.
