Reads the export, not the device

ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.

Why it matters

An offline Policy Service node answers no authentication: network devices that name it wait for its timeout before trying the next one, and sessions it held are lost. An offline Administration or Monitoring node leaves no copy of the configuration or no log store.

How to fix it

Web interface

The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.

  1. In ISE: Administration > System > Deployment: open the node and read its status and the last sync time.
  2. From the node's CLI check application status ise and the connectivity to the Primary Administration node (port 443 and the replication ports).
  3. Register the node again, or sync it from the Primary Administration node, once it answers.

Command line

This analyzer version writes no command text for this control. The steps above are the remediation it offers.

How to confirm the fix

  • In ISE: Administration > System > Deployment: the node shows Connected and its sync time is current.

Limits

  • The status is ISE's own word when the reading was collected; the reading does not say since when.
