Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
With one link in the zone there is no other path inside it: when that link fails, the policies and routes that use the zone stop passing traffic until it returns.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- Add a second link to the zone under Network, SD-WAN, SD-WAN Zones, or confirm that a single path is the intended design (an overlay with its own failover, for example).
Command line
FortiOS CLI
config system sdwanconfig membersedit <member-sequence>set interface <interface>set zone <sdwan-zone>set gateway <gateway>nextendend
An example. Values in angle brackets are yours to supply; a finding on your own export fills in the names it read. FortiOS saves a change when you type next or end, with no separate commit. Read every line first.
Read it back
show system sdwandiagnose sys sdwan member
Values to fill in4
- <member-sequence>
- A free sequence number for the new SD-WAN member
- <interface>
- The interface to change
- <sdwan-zone>
- The name of the SD-WAN zone
- <gateway>
- The gateway of the new link
Before you type it2
- Written from the FortiOS CLI Reference, not yet run on a device. Read each line before typing it.
- On a device with VDOMs, type these inside the VDOM (config vdom, edit the VDOM) or inside config global for a global setting.
How to confirm the fix
- On the FortiGate (read only): diagnose sys sdwan member, and confirm the members of the zone.
Limits
- A zone of one tunnel can be backed by another zone in the same rule or route; the check reads one zone at a time.
