Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
A release past its end of support receives no fixes, security fixes included, so a vulnerability found after that day stays open until an upgrade.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- Plan an upgrade to a supported release with CPUSE (Gaia Portal > Upgrades (CPUSE)) or a Blink image, management server first, then the gateways.
- Until then, restrict management access to trusted addresses and read the vendor's advisories for the release.
Command line
Check Point mgmt_cli and Gaia clish
show installer packages available-for-downloadinstaller download <package>installer verify <package>
An example. Values in angle brackets are yours to supply; a finding on your own export fills in the names it read. Nothing here installs a policy. Publish, review, then install the policy on your gateways yourself; Gaia changes need save config.
Read it back
show version allValues to fill in1
- <package>
- The package CPUSE lists for the target version or take
Before you type it2
- Written from the Check Point Management API reference and Gaia clish syntax, not yet run on a device. Read each line before typing it.
- Upgrade the management server before the gateways it manages, and follow the vendor's upgrade path for the version in use.
How to confirm the fix
- Read the version on the box again after the upgrade and confirm it is inside the vendor's support.
Limits
- The date is from Check Point's Support Life Cycle Policy as kept by ConfigProof; a version the table does not list, and Spark firmware, are not judged.
Compliance references
No benchmark recommendation is mapped to this control in this version.
