Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
The profile a user gets depends on where this one sits in the list. Placed above the others, it takes their users; placed below, it is what everyone else falls to.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- Name the groups the profile is for, or move it last so the profiles above it are matched first.
Command line
PAN-OS CLI, standalone firewall, vsys1
set vsys vsys1 global-protect global-protect-gateway <gateway> remote-user-tunnel-configs <object-name> source-user <user-group>An example. Values in angle brackets are yours to supply; a finding on your own export fills in the names it read. Nothing here commits. Review the candidate configuration, then commit it yourself.
Read it back
show vsys vsys1 global-protect global-protect-gateway <gateway> remote-user-tunnel-configs <object-name>Values to fill in3
- <object-name>
- The object's name, as it appears on your firewall
- <gateway>
- The name of the GlobalProtect gateway
- <user-group>
- The user group this profile is for, as the gateway lists it
How to confirm the fix
- Connect a user of each group and confirm each receives the profile meant for it.
Limits
- Strata Cloud Manager items carry no order, so there every other profile that could serve the same clients counts as after it.
- An operating system written as any matches every client.
