Antivirus profile does not reset both sides on every decoder

Reads the export, not the device
ConfigProof reads a configuration export. This control is evaluated against the objects in that file, and it reports what the file says. It does not connect to the device and sees no traffic, so a finding here describes the configuration, not what the firewall is doing right now.
Why it matters
A decoder that alerts or uses the signature default lets a detected file through on that protocol.
How to fix it
Web interface
The steps below are written for the web interface. A finding raised on your own export carries the same steps with your object names filled in.
- Set Action and WildFire Action to reset-both on every decoder except imap and pop3, and to alert on imap and pop3.
Command line
PAN-OS CLI, standalone firewall, vsys1
set vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder ftp action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder ftp wildfire-action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder http action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder http wildfire-action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder http2 action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder http2 wildfire-action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder smb action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder smb wildfire-action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder smtp action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder smtp wildfire-action reset-bothset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder imap action alertset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder imap wildfire-action alertset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder pop3 action alertset vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoder pop3 wildfire-action alert
An example. Values in angle brackets are yours to supply; a finding on your own export fills in the names it read. Nothing here commits. Review the candidate configuration, then commit it yourself.
Read it back
show vsys vsys1 profiles virus <object-name> decoderValues to fill in1
- <object-name>
- The object's name, as it appears on your firewall
Before you type it1
- Set only the profiles the group is missing. The rest are already there.
How to confirm the fix
- Confirm the actions on each decoder after commit.
Limits
- default is judged as written: it is not reset-both. On imap and pop3, alert and reset-both are accepted.
- A decoder or column the profile does not write is recorded as not written: the CIS benchmark states no value for it.

Where a control aligns with a recommendation of the CIS Palo Alto Firewall 11 Benchmark v1.2.0, that recommendation is cited as a reference. Only that version was checked. A reference is not a certification.
